Hello, and welcome to the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association Foundation Board application! We are looking for individuals interested in making a difference in mental health care in the state of Iowa. You do NOT need to have any knowledge of mental health to join this board. In fact, we would love to have people with many different professions, connections, and interests. This ensures the mission is well carried.
This board of trustees was established to promote and grow the IMHCA Foundation. This foundation is a 501c(3) and its mission is to expand the capacity of all IMHCA Board of Directors to support and promote the counseling profession by:
a. Increasing access to educational and professional development opportunities Licensed Professional Counselors and Counselors in training;
b. Assembling of leaders in the field to identify future initiatives for the Foundation:
c. Initiating, Identifying, sponsoring and decimating research in Professional Counseling and publishing or aiding in the publication of the results of research;
d. Advancing the Recognition and Understanding of Professional Counseling.
Our board has a rolling application and fills positions as needed. The Officers of the Foundation Board of Trustees are Chair, Chair-Elect, Treasurer, and Secretary. The positions of Chair and Chair-Elect are reserved for the President and President-Elect of the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association (elected by IMHCA members). The Chair and Chair-Elect begin terms in accordance with the terms held as IMHCA board meetings. IMHCA appoints someone to chair-elect from the IMHCA Board in years where there is no president-elect. Other trustee positions are public members elected by majority vote of the Board of Trustees.
By completing the application below, you are committing to a two-year term unless otherwise designated by the board, quarterly meetings, attendance at any annual events, and supporting the mission above. Answers to the form below ensure that we have a diverse and well skilled board. They are used to inventory strengths and needs of the board, but none are to exclude applicants.
