    Job Description

The Iowa Veteran’s Home is a 500 bed long-term care facility for veterans and their spouses operated by the State of Iowa with multiple levels of care, including secured memory units, nursing care and residential care.

We are seeking a licensed psychologist, licensed mental health counselor or licensed independent social worker who has an interest in geriatrics, cognitive impairment, and chronic mental illness.

Our multidisciplinary mental health team is tight-knit and collegial. Counseling is an important aspect of the position, and common themes include loss of independence, coping with physical or mental disability, and end of life issues.

Experience with substance abuse treatment and/or neuropsychological testing would be desirable. Candidates should be capable of working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop behavior management plans and assist in managing complex family dynamics. Staff education is also expected.

Although program coordination is involved, this is not a supervisory or administrative position. There are opportunities available to work with students.

40 hour weekly schedule with no night or weekend duties required. Excellent benefit plan. Student loan repayment is a possibility.

*** All applicants are subject to a Criminal Background Check, Dependent Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Check
