MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned doctorate in counseling or counseling-related area from a CACREP accredited school.
  • Licensure in Mental Health Counseling, or ability to earn licensure within first six months of employment.
  • Two to five years of teaching experience in Counselor Education program.
  • Prior experience with course design and online teaching.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with CACREP and NBCC accreditation standards
  • Active involvement in ACA and mental health advocacy efforts
  • Established research, publications OR presentations.
  • Prior experience providing clinical mental health counseling and a fully licensed counselor or LMHC license eligible for state of Iowa.
  • Five years of teaching experience including courses in counselor education.

DUTIES:

The successful candidate is expected to meet the teaching, scholarly and service expectations of a tenure-track faculty member. These include the following:

  • Teaching a minimum of 24 graduate level Mental Health Counseling hours (eight courses) per year
  • Successfully engaging with students from a wide range of backgrounds, races, cultures, ethnicities, sexual preferences, abilities, and nationalities in a manner that positively promotes the communication field’s impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Advising graduate students in the program.
  • Engaging in research/scholarly activity appropriate to their discipline
  • Actively supporting the management and administration of the CMHC program; including assisting with department accreditation tasks and course curriculum audits
  • Maintaining membership and actively participating in the work of appropriate professional organizations
  • Leading the planning and providing instruction and support for the program’s annual residency.
  • Serve on university committees, will support the university’s strategic initiatives.
