MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An earned doctorate in counseling or counseling-related area from a CACREP accredited school.
- Licensure in Mental Health Counseling, or ability to earn licensure within first six months of employment.
- Two to five years of teaching experience in Counselor Education program.
- Prior experience with course design and online teaching.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with CACREP and NBCC accreditation standards
- Active involvement in ACA and mental health advocacy efforts
- Established research, publications OR presentations.
- Prior experience providing clinical mental health counseling and a fully licensed counselor or LMHC license eligible for state of Iowa.
- Five years of teaching experience including courses in counselor education.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate is expected to meet the teaching, scholarly and service expectations of a tenure-track faculty member. These include the following:
- Teaching a minimum of 24 graduate level Mental Health Counseling hours (eight courses) per year
- Successfully engaging with students from a wide range of backgrounds, races, cultures, ethnicities, sexual preferences, abilities, and nationalities in a manner that positively promotes the communication field’s impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Advising graduate students in the program.
- Engaging in research/scholarly activity appropriate to their discipline
- Actively supporting the management and administration of the CMHC program; including assisting with department accreditation tasks and course curriculum audits
- Maintaining membership and actively participating in the work of appropriate professional organizations
- Leading the planning and providing instruction and support for the program’s annual residency.
- Serve on university committees, will support the university’s strategic initiatives.
