True North Therapy & Wellness, a mental health private practice located in West Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking candidates for the position of Mental Health Therapist.

Position Overview: As a Mental Health Therapist with us, you will have the opportunity to provide outpatient mental health therapy in an office setting for clients seeking care with diverse presenting concerns. Therapists under clinical supervision will provide therapy to adolescents and adults; independently licensed clinicians are invited to serve children, couples, and families as well if within their scope. This is a full time, W-2 (not 1099/independent contractor) position, with compensation based on a percentage of income received.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical mental health counseling services to clients of True North Therapy & Wellness
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with client’s other healthcare professionals/treatment team members and families as needed
  • Participate in regular clinical team meetings to enhance individual professional growth and team development

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Currently licensed as a mental health clinician (LMHC/TLMHC, LISW/LMSW, LMFT/TLMFT) or eligible for provisional license in Iowa (all license qualifications except completed supervision plan must be met). PhD/PsyD candidates are also invited to apply but must be independently licensed.
  • Ability to be available 36 hours/week for client scheduling and to complete 25 client sessions/ week. Some weekday evening hours (after 5pm) will be required
    Strong written & verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical practice.
  • Be organized and detail oriented.
  • Have the ability to work independently on tasks assigned and collaboratively with others at True North and in the community.
