IMHCA proudly endorses Iowa’s very own Kristy Brown, LMHC, NCC, CADC for the position of Midwest Region Representative with the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
Kristy has been active in our state chapter for a number of years and has advocated tirelessly for LMHCs across the state since accepting the President-Elect position in 2013. Under her guidance IMHCA has grown into a model and a standout Association for other chapters nationwide.
Throughout her time as President and Past-President, Kristy has served as a trusted guide and mentor not only for IMHCA, but also for those of us who try each and every day to follow in her footsteps. She will undoubtedly serve in that same capacity as the Midwest Regional Representative, impacting not just Iowa leaders, but also those leading the cause in every state under her guidance.
Finally, because IMHCA has been selected to play a crucial role in AMHCA’s effort to secure Medicare reimbursement for all mental health counselors across the nation, we will be requiring regular and direct contact with our Regional Rep. throughout the next two years. Kristy has already begun to serve diligently in that role since being appointed by AMHCA’s Board of Directors in October 2016, and will certainly continue doing so following her re-election.
The impact Kristy has had and will continue to have on the field of mental health counseling is immeasurable. We were blessed to have had her serving IMHCA’s interests in the past, and are grateful for her help in shaping our presence and our voice in Iowa and beyond. The time has come for us to use that voice to ensure Kristy can continue to serve and advance the profession through her new role. We encourage all AMHCA members in the Midwest Region to take a moment out of your day and vote Kristy Brown for Midwest Regional Representative BEFORE the April 1st deadline!
