Board Member Opening: Conference Committee Chair

Are you interested in getting more involved with IMHCA? Nominations are now being accepted for members in good standing for the Conference Committee Chair. This position is appointed by the board and the expectation for participation is attendance at quarterly board meetings as well as leading monthly committee meetings. Remote participation in meetings will be arranged when needed.

 

The Conference Committee Chair is a position appointed by the board that will serve for 2 years with responsibilities to head the committee to plan the annual conference. The first conference new leadership will be responsible for is Spring 2021. However, it would be expected that the person selected for this role will shadow the current Chair through the current conference on April 30 and May 1, 2020. Currently monthly conference committee meetings are on Fridays and would be required once appointed.

Job Duties and responsibilities

Maintain active membership with IMHCA.

Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives.

Attend all board meetings.

Coordinate, plan and execute the annual IMHCA conference for mental health professionals.

Ensure high quality educational opportunities to mental health providers in the state of Iowa.

Establish and maintain a conference committee.

Lead the conference committee in, at least, monthly conference planning meetings.

Maintain a conference budget with the help of the committee.

Establish relationships with members and community agencies/organizations and individual providers to increase sponsorships, exhibitors, and collaboration for the profession.

Report to the board quarterly regarding progress, financial information, and needs.

Survey attendees for feedback to ensure member needs are met with regards to continuing education and professional development.

Carry out special assignments as requested by the board or executive committee.
