Call To Action – HF 93

Your Action Is Needed Today On Non-Compete Agreements (HF 93)!!

HF 93 will be considered by the Senate Health and Human Resources Committee on Thursday, March 30.  This is a key meeting as HF 93 must pass out of committee to remain alive for full Senate consideration.

Now is the time for you to take action to ensure this bill moves on for full Senate consideration.   Please take a few minutes to reach out to members of the Senate Health and Human Resources Committee to  encourage them to support HF 93.   You can find those members and their contact information here:  https://www.legis.iowa.gov/committees/committee?ga=90&groupID=328

Here are some key points to make with your legislators:

  • Noncompete agreements for mental health providers reduce the number of providers available to serve Iowans.  We already have a shortage of mental health providers and should not make it worse through these agreements.

  • Noncompete agreements put providers in the impossible position of violating their ethical standards under their licensure to continue serving their clients.

  • Noncompete agreements for mental health providers are clearly inconsistent with good public policy that says we should be expanding, not limiting, the practice of mental health professionals.

  • There is only one group registered opposed to HF 93 – the Iowa Independent Physicians Group ( i.e. the Iowa Clinic) and they don’t provide mental health services.

  • HF 93 passed the House unanimously.
