Legislative Update – WEEK 12

Week 12: IMHCA – April 1, 2021

1.   Bills that have passed this week

SF 524 – Is now the BH telehealth parity bill – NO, this Is not an April Fools joke!

  • Rep Fry attached HF 294, the BH telehealth parity bill to SF 524
  • SF 524 was passed unanimously out of the House HR committee
  • The full House will vote on it and send it back to the Senate. Their options will be”
    • Concur (agree with) the bill and send the Governor
    • Amend it to bounce it back to the House
    • Or Kill it
  • Call your Senator and ask them to move the bill!

SF 587 – MH tax funding bill

  • Amendments will be taken on the Senate floor supposedly to address the following concerns:
    • Adding children to the risk pool board
    • Addressing in kind funding of Broadlawns for Polk County
    • Fixing cash flow, regional issues as needed
  • Watch this bill to move out of the Senate next week. Watch for details on possible calls to action to support sustainable funding for mental health.
