We are so excited you are here. There are so many great benefits to serving on the board of your professional organization. These include continuing education credits for serving, opportunities to attend our state and national conferences, and networking with providers. Our volunteer board members work hard to support mental health counseling through networking, advocacy, continuing education and public relations.
General expectations of all board members are that they are an active member of IMHCA in good standing, attend quarterly board meetings, participate in an annual board retreat, help plan the programing of IMHCA and participate in committee meetings (based on their chair or interest). “Chairs” on our board chair a committee to accomplish their tasks and programming goals. At-Large positions do not chair a committee but can join committees of their interest. The new planning year starts annually July 1. Most meetings are held virtually or with a virtual option. We love having representation from across the state, so don’t let distance stop you from applying!
This application form is open for nominations year-round to cultivate interest and keep a list of those interested in leadership positions. If you are interested in a specific position, but it is not open yet, feel free to join the relevant committee associated with the position and we will keep your application on file. We will reach out periodically to those who are expressing interest. Terms are two years with the exception of the presidency role. Some positions are elected with elections occurring in the spring or early summer with a start date of July 1st annually. Some positions are appointed and start July 1st. If you are interested in nominating yourself for a board position, please check out the job descriptions for specific position descriptions to help you understand the expectations of the role. The job descriptions also let you know if the position is appointed or elected. Open positions in mid term are appointed by the president with confirmation of the board. Any applications for open positions will be reviewed as they come in and discussed at times of board business for appointment.
